Happy New Year!

How was your Christmas? Did Santa bring you everything you wished for? I had flu 2 weeks before Christmas and I don’t mean just a very bad cold! I was in bed (very unlike me) Mon-Fri and on the Tues night I really thought I needed the hospital. (I know I’m an actress but I swear I’m not being dramatic!) I just laid there from 2am crying (also not like me) the first and I hope the only time I’ve ever had proper flu. Consequently it put my Christmas preparation slightly behind. I was gutted, I’d been so organised starting my present shopping in the summer and what for??? To still be wrapping presents and running around the shops on Christmas Eve.

A side that it was just great! I had a very drunken night out with Nick Pickard (plays Tony in Hollyoaks) and Jimmy McKenna (plays my Dad). I still keep in touch with them and we’d been trying to get a night out together for quite some time and we finally did it over Christmas and boy did we make up for lost time! It was such fun! I think they poured me into a cab about 4.30 in the morning… naughty!

We spent Christmas day at my mother-in-laws which is a family tradition and one that I love. Sadly as both my parents have died I usually find this time of the year difficult. But because I get on so well with my husbands family, it definitely helps! Boxing Day we have everyone over to us where I cook Christmas dinner - 15 people this year! Then at New Year we went down to my sisters in Lincolnshire for a party. I’m knackered! I now need a holiday to recover and some serious detoxing!

Slowly getting back to normal now and trying to get back to work. Hope if this is your first day back that it’s not too bad.

60 Minute Makeover is now off your screens until some time around Easter, I’ll confirm the exact date when I get it. We should also find out very soon if we’ll be making any more so check this site out for an update.

As I didn’t do a December update I’ll try and do another one at the end of Jan or before if I have any news!

Well hello there - its been some time - apologies about that, life has been a little bit crazy!

Filming 60 Minute Makeover was just amazing! When I was told we were doing 70 shows this series I’ve got to be honest, I was a little nervous. Its a huge amount of shows to keep the quality, content and the energy there. I’m happy to say, not only did we do it, we did it quite easily having lots of fun along the way! I believe this is the best series yet, but I’d be interested to hear what you think, you know how to get in touch by now so don’t be shy!

So what’s been happening in the real World while I’ve been up to my neck in filming? Who’s started to feel sorry for Britney? Come on guys, be honest… At first it was like watch a train wreck, an addictive one at that, but still a train wreck. Now I’m so sad she’s had her children taken away from her. I really hope she starts surrounding herself by people who care about her and not her wallet!

Jungle fever has started - are you excited? I am. One of my old colleagues Gemma Atkinson is on, so please make sure if you are voting that you support her. Its such a brave thing to do. On one hand I’d love to do it for the dear devil stuff, but I’m rubbish without food so I’m afraid it wouldn’t show my best side at all! Fingers crossed Gemma will do ok.

I’m running around trying to get ready for Christmas. I know, I know, its early but every year I’m determined not to be making the mad, last minute dash to the shops and every year I find myself doing exactly that! Here’s hoping I get myself organised for once.

Fantastic news: The new series of 60 Minute Makeover will be on your screens on the 3rd of September.

To get you in the mood, the last series will be repeated from the 13th of August. On the 3rd of September the repeats will pause in order to make way for the new series. 7 weeks later the new series wraps up and the remainder of last seasons repeats will continue taking you up to the 29th October. That’s 3 months of you having to endure me on the telly! I’m sure by that point you’ll be bored stiff of me, so please feel free to drop me a line with any feedback good or bad on this very site.

I’m writing this whilst sat on location in Bournemouth. I love this part of the world; it seems to be the only part of England that’s currently getting any sunshine. If you’re one of those hit by the floods, I can’t begin to imagine how difficult it must be to be in the position whereby you’ve got to put your house back together - let’s pray for summer some time soon and a break for all those affected.
